Remembering my birthday {personal : franklin, MA}

Well, today is my birthday and I'm turning the big 2-8!  While I am off celebrating on this gorgeous day, I wanted to post one of my favorite birthday memories with you all.  It involves the Beatles.  It doesn't get much better than that!  So picture this...every birthday morning I would wake...yes wake...to the very loud vocal melodies of Paul McCartney and company shouting that "today is my birthday" and that "we are gunna have a good time!"  And while my parents were not here this morning to play it for me, I certainly found it on You Tube and played it while Matt made me a delicious birthday breakfast.

Happy Birthday March Babies!!

Much Love,
Aubrey

Merry Christmas! {personal : franklin, ma}

Christmas is my favorite time of year, so I wanted to share a little bit of ours with you!  This is our first Christmas in our very own house, to which we now lovingly call a home.  I am so very excited that I get to have my most cherished family members around our first LIVE tree this year and I can guarantee you there will be carols sung, presents opened and Puggle's snuggled at it's hearty base.

I am so thankful! {A full year of photography}

I wasn't sure when I was going to do this post, but Thanksgiving seemed like the best time.  I just finished up a full day of client meetings and each and every one of them made me love my job a just a little bit more.  It really is just so much fun to sit with a bride and listen to her talk about the planning, the details, the dress and of course the engagement!  Now I don't really have any specific date for when I decided to start my business, but it was right about now.  There were many nights of asking myself if I was really going to do it and then a lot of mornings when I rolled over and asked Matt the same question.  But at some point we both said "Hell-ya!" and so was born, Aubrey B. Greene Photography.  I started with the simple and focused direction that I was going to be a pet photographer because there wasn't much I enjoyed more than spending time with my little pooch so why not do it ALL the time.  But as this year progressed and I was asked to shoot a few weddings, I fell in love.  I fell in love with the brides, the grooms and the smile on my face as I captured them falling in love all over again.  I am getting tingles just writing about it!  So, a few days ago I sat in front of a delicious Thanksgiving feast and reflected on all the things that have happened in the past year and all the people that have helped me to get where I am today.  I am so thankful to my husband for his love, encouragement and gentle pushes that kept me going every day.  I am so thankful to my family & friends for being my first "fans" on Facebook ;)  I am so thankful to my pups, Stella & Rupert, for keeping my feet warm while I'm editing.  And I am of course thankful to all my clients who took the risk of being my first.  You all ROCK and I can't thank you enough!  The upcoming year is full weddings that I am just tickled pink to be shooting.  I am also currently going through a branding face-lift and can't wait to reveal all the changes over the next few months.  I promise it will be nothing short of amazing!

And in honor of all the risk-takers, I stepped out of my "baking box" and made my very first pumpkin pie!  The recipe came out of my family cookbook, rightly named, The Serulla Family Cookbook.  My mother kept an extra copy of it hidden since before I was born and gave it to me at my bridal shower a few years ago.  It was complete with stars, X's and secret ingredients.  Let me tell you...I have never liked pumpkin pie, but this one was pretty awesome ;)  I also made my famous pumpkin bread and it was better than ever!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you all for a fantastic first year in business!

Much Love,
Aubrey

Stella has a cone

My poor baby girl had to have eye surgery last week.  She had a very common condition called Cherry Eye.  Unfortunately, now she has a cone.  And while I find this to be so sad, I also find it to be hilarious!  Why?  Because it accentuates her puppy-ness.  She can also help us pick up the last of the leaves by scooping then up into her cone and then carry them over to the pile...or by eating them.  And it has given her added confidence when picking a fight with good ol' Rupert!

Here's a pic of her from this morning.

Stella Belle 4 days post surgery.

My TO Do list {personal}

So today started out like most days...calmly asking Rupert to wait until the sun comes up for breakfast, feeding and walking Stella in the dark and catching up on The NATE Show.  But somehow this only vaguely happened.  Today, I sat down on the couch, MUTED Nate and played 8 episodes of Fast Money.  OMG!...That was not on my To Do list!  Here's how this went down.  About a month ago I was on the phone with my mom and she said, "Matt doesn't respond to my Fast Money requests anymore."  The Family Feud game on Facebook is turning in to a family feud!  I was shocked by her words because Matt, my husband, is usually really good about doing it...we even do it together sometimes just before bed.  She sounded so sad, so I told her she could start sending them to me and I would help her out.  BAM!...now I'm addicted.  Hey, at least it's not Farmville...hehe ;)

Does anyone else have a LOVE/Hate relationship with The Family Feud?

Household Rivalry {personal}

It's game day!  The start of college football...my favorite time of the year!  And this year is just a little extra special.  Michigan is playing UCONN.  While I have no collegiate affiliation with Michigan, I did grow up in Michigan and it was there that a love of college ball was instilled in me.  On game day I always put on my blue shirt with the yellow (or maize) block letters and shout "GO BLUE" from the rooftops.  My husband however...went to UCONN, grew up down the street from UCONN, he lives and breathes UCONN.  And Rupert??  Well he's from Oklahoma...and that's closer to Michigan.  So when we heard that the first game of the season was going to be UCONN and Michigan, we planned a party!  Streamers and all!!  Until we both realized that we would be working haha.  So much for that.  But don't you worry (or spoil it!!) we have set the DVR and we will wear our shirts and watch the game during the late late hours of this evening.  So who is going to win??  Wolverines v. Huskies???  I think you know the answer ;)

GO BLUE!!
Aubrey

Summer Puggle {personal}

It's been a while since Rupert has made a full appearance on the blog.  He sneaked in a couple posts ago, but that was just a tease.  Rupert has had a crazy summer filled with a new house and new play mates...also a slight gain in weight...but nothing a little extra football can't cure...and a new addiction to air conditioner (this may explain the weight gain!).  I know he is sad to see summer go, but also super excited for Fall because Fall means apple picking and this pooch LOVES apples!

XO!

being bridal in brooklyn {brooklyn, ny}

Last weekend I took a trip on my very first Amtrak train...it was AMAZING!  For years I have been going to New York City by way of bus and it would take me 6+ hours.  Last year I tried flying...it took just as long because the airport is nowhere near Brooklyn!  By taking the train I was actually able to eat dinner with my friend Nicole and still have time to stay up late and giggle!  The purpose of my trip was to accept my post as Awesome Friend of Honor, more commonly known as Main of Honor, and to cry as she tried on the IT dress.  All things were successful :)  I got to meet the other bridesmaids and the fiance's mother, all of whom I LOVE!  I also got to catch up with Mama Confrey and secretively plan future bridal activities ;)

So when I wasn't being bridal in Brooklyn...I got to check out a farmer's market, the boardwalk at Coney Island and I even took in a Brooklyn Cyclones game...complete with fireworks!!  Lastly, I would like to give a shout out to Wafels & Dinges for providing me with my most delicious and memorable waffle experience!

A special birthday greeting!! {Franklin, MA}

Rupert and I would like to wish Matt a very happy birthday full of birthday kisses!

Everyone needs a vacation! {burlington, vt}

Today I am off to shoot a wedding in Rhode Island with my friend Megan.  This is our first time professionally shooting together and I can't wait!  I photographed Megan a few months back.  Check out her beautiful face here!  And stay tuned for a sneak peek of the wedding!!

Last week, Matt and I took a much needed vacation to Vermont. We were lucky enough to be able to house sit for my parents while they were on vacation.  A perfect scenario for a vacationer on a budget.  The only kick was that I had to get up every day at 6am to take little old Simon out.  He is not as well trained as Rupert...to sleep until 10! Haha  But once that was taken care of we had a great time!  All week we did things I've never done or haven't done in years.  And we even got to spend some quality time with my grandparents :)

Don't forget to take a break yourself!

To fall in love {franklin, ma}

Falling in love is something so very special.  There is nothing like falling in love with something or someone for the first time.  And I mean truly falling in love.  Like the day I fell in love with Photography...It was the first time I pulled the film out of the developer.  Then there was the day I fell in love with my dog, Rupert...It was the first night he fell asleep in my arms, belly up.  And then the day I fell in love with my husband, which was before we even said the words out loud.  So as I sat with my husband last weekend, watching the Franklin Fireworks, I turned to him and said, "I think I just fell in love with this town."  He smiled and held me just a bit tighter.  I smiled, took a deep breath and settled in to my new town.  There's nothing like a carnival, a parade and the most amazing fireworks display ever to set the scene for love.  And I fell for it.
