Merry Christmas! {personal : franklin, ma}

Christmas is my favorite time of year, so I wanted to share a little bit of ours with you!  This is our first Christmas in our very own house, to which we now lovingly call a home.  I am so very excited that I get to have my most cherished family members around our first LIVE tree this year and I can guarantee you there will be carols sung, presents opened and Puggle's snuggled at it's hearty base.

Stella has a cone

My poor baby girl had to have eye surgery last week.  She had a very common condition called Cherry Eye.  Unfortunately, now she has a cone.  And while I find this to be so sad, I also find it to be hilarious!  Why?  Because it accentuates her puppy-ness.  She can also help us pick up the last of the leaves by scooping then up into her cone and then carry them over to the pile...or by eating them.  And it has given her added confidence when picking a fight with good ol' Rupert!

Here's a pic of her from this morning.

Stella Belle 4 days post surgery.

Just saying hello {Puggle}

Happy Thursday everyone!  Things have been a bit crazy around here so I just wanted to take a moment to pop in and say hello.  With me today is Miss Stella, who has almost doubled in size since she last visited the blog!  This poor girl has had a rough start to life and most recently was diagnosed with Cherry Eye.  She will be having surgery soon, but her spirits haven't dropped.  Neither has her appetite!!  Below you can see her begging for cookies!!

Thursday nights I take a break and indulge myself with a little drama on the television.  I eat dinner on the couch, now with a Puggle under both arms, and I watch Grey's and Private Practice, back to back, with commercials!  Usually I record anything I sorta like and watch it when I can, but Thursday nights are the exception!  I've been watching both since the very beginning and I just can't give them up :)

What do you do on Thursday night?  A little TV drama addiction as well???

Happy Watching and a Happy Halloween as well ;)

Introducing Stella Belle {personal}

We have had Rupert for 3.5 years.  I can't believe how quickly the time has passed.  I still recall anxiously waiting on the baggage claim floor to see his little tiny head and hear his puppy squeak.  Well, Rupert was 2 hours late but not the least bit phased by the trip.  He reached his little pink tongue out of the crate and gently claimed my husband as his father.  He patiently waited to be let out of his crate and then walked out, totally calm and cool.  I then held him, all 6.5lbs, with his head against my heartbeat for the entire drive home.

Picking up Stella was completely different.  She was was right on time and arrived at the cargo building of Logan Airport.  A place with far less seats and glamor.  I was so nervous and the only comfort available to me was a Twix in a vending machine.  I decided to wait outside with Matt and my friend Nicole, who naively drove all the way up from Brooklyn to share in this experience of "bringing home baby" and the probable first night of endless crying.  I saw a little boy come running out of the door grasping every hair of his new pup..."His name is Rigby!"  Matt went up to the locked door where personal handed his a small crate.  Stella had arrived right on time and covered in poop.  I think we have and will continue to learn that this will continue to describe her personality in the days and months to come.  This time, Stella reached out her tongue and her painful chompers and said "Are you my mother"?  To which I picked her up, all 4.8lbs, and held her so close to my heartbeat...poop and all...and said yes.

Here she is, weighing in at 5.75lbs this morning, Miss Stella Belle Greene.

And here is Rupert being introduced to Stella.

Summer Puggle {personal}

It's been a while since Rupert has made a full appearance on the blog.  He sneaked in a couple posts ago, but that was just a tease.  Rupert has had a crazy summer filled with a new house and new play mates...also a slight gain in weight...but nothing a little extra football can't cure...and a new addiction to air conditioner (this may explain the weight gain!).  I know he is sad to see summer go, but also super excited for Fall because Fall means apple picking and this pooch LOVES apples!

XO!

A special birthday greeting!! {Franklin, MA}

Rupert and I would like to wish Matt a very happy birthday full of birthday kisses!

Everyone needs a vacation! {burlington, vt}

Today I am off to shoot a wedding in Rhode Island with my friend Megan.  This is our first time professionally shooting together and I can't wait!  I photographed Megan a few months back.  Check out her beautiful face here!  And stay tuned for a sneak peek of the wedding!!

Last week, Matt and I took a much needed vacation to Vermont. We were lucky enough to be able to house sit for my parents while they were on vacation.  A perfect scenario for a vacationer on a budget.  The only kick was that I had to get up every day at 6am to take little old Simon out.  He is not as well trained as Rupert...to sleep until 10! Haha  But once that was taken care of we had a great time!  All week we did things I've never done or haven't done in years.  And we even got to spend some quality time with my grandparents :)

Don't forget to take a break yourself!

Mr. June has arrived!

Forgive me blog world for it has been over a week since my last post...It has also been over a week since my husband and I moved in to our new home!!!  It has been a crazy week and I'm pretty sure the next few will be as well...but I am loving every second of it!  We've had friends and family stopping by to lend a hand which has been so much fun and very appreciated!  We finally got the grill set up and the washer and dryer(!!!).  We've really only had one tragedy and that was when the cabinet under the kitchen sink decided it's life was over...Jessie warned me this day would come...I was just hoping it would be much much later.  Oh well.  These are the joys and concerns of home ownership.  I will try to get some more pictures up soon and even some Before & After posts!
I have also anxiously been waiting for June to arrive because Rupert is Mr. June!  Mr. Puggle's owner created the Puggle Posse 2010 Calendar to raise money for the Tinely Park P.A.W.S. non-profit organization.   We got the calendar before 2010 even arrived and the months have been passing with many other cute Puggles...but we really just wanted it to be June all the time.  I promised my husband I would wait until June to turn to Rupert...and I did...but I did not promise that it wouldn't be June for the rest of the year! ;)

The memories we will have...

It has been an emotional few weeks, but I thought it might be therapeutic for me to write and share how I'm feeling.  Last Saturday my Aunt Betts passed away.  Aunt Betts is one of my strongest memories from when I lived in Michigan many years ago.  I was born there and lived there until I was 8 years old.  My mother used this phrase recently, and I kindly repeat its truth...Aunt Betts loved us all is if we were her favorite.  No matter how many miles away I was and how infrequently I got to see her, that one card or phone call always made me feel that I was her favorite.  She had a way with words and smiles that surpassed everyone else.  She wore the best clothes, sent the best cards and gave the best hugs.  Last fall she traveled all the way to Vermont to visit my parents and grandparents and I jumped at the opportunity to spend time with her.  We went to Ben & Jerry's and to the Cider Mill...but more importantly we sat.  We sat in my mother's living room telling stories and laughing and winking.  Those three days last fall, meant more to me than any other time we had spent together.  Sadly, we knew that it would probably be the last time we were together, but not once did we say it out loud.  She had been sick for a while, but when I saw her she didn't show it.  She was the same spunky and strong woman that I had always remembered.  I can't be in Michigan this weekend to celebrate her life, but I will be here looking up at her because she was my favorite.

Flying Puggle {brookline : ma}

After two days of rain, the sun decided to show its beautiful face today.  I grabbed my husband, Rupert and the camera and we all headed out to Larz Anderson Park.  When we got there, we realized it was just a tad breezy and freezing cold so we came back home.  While it was a day better viewed through a window, I did get this shot of Rupert sitting by the water.  He didn't seem to mind the wind :)

Rainy Day Puggle {brookline, ma}

This weekend has been a washout.  Rain, rain and more rain.  Poor Rupert just hates the rain and tightly crosses his paws so he doesn't have to go out there.  He could care less about the health hazards...he just doesn't want to do it.  But a rainy day does not stop a Puggle from wanting to play.  I was in the middle of watching season 3 of Sex and the City when Rupert gave me the saddest eyes and hummed a quiet whimper...he wanted to play with his new favorite toy...the football.  We don't give Rupert soft toys because he will eat them for dinner.  But my dear friend Nicole brought him a so-called indestructible soft toy...so we agreed to try it out with supervision.  Rupert thinks it's the greatest toy on earth and quickly forgets about the billion dollar bone we bought him for Christmas.  But it is all OK because his smile after playing is priceless :)

Rupert {doggie boudoir : brookline, ma}

So I'm working in my office today and I hear snoring coming from the bedroom...I know Matt is at the gym, so it can't be him.  I look to my feet for Rupert, but it seems my trusty sidekick is not fulfilling his duties.  So I turn my head around the corner (with camera in hand) and see my little dude rolling around the bed in pure Puggle happiness...and then he was caught!

A Puggle Christmas

There is no Christmas Joy greater than watching my 2 1/2 year old Puggle open his gifts on Christmas. He loves when the tree goes up, he loves watching me string the beads, he loves when the scent of bones fills the area below the tree!
