PartnerCon 2010 : Shooting workshop {new orleans, LA}

Today's post is super exciting for both me and all my brides...past present and future!  About a month ago I went to a photography conference down in New Orleans run by my online gallery company, Pictage.  The conference itself wasn't so much about technique as it was about relationships.  Sure I went to classes about pricing, marketing and keeping the faith...but mostly I got to talk with other photographers about our lives.  The life of a photographer is a very interesting one.  I am pretty sure it is the one profession that survives solely on love.  There is the love of the brides, the grooms, the partners, the mothers and fathers and of course the children.  But it is also about the love a photographer has for their profession and their clients.  I LOVE my clients. They are my friends and my family.  I LOVE my job.  It is what makes me get up every day with a smile on my face.  And for four days, I got to mush about this with 499 other photographers.  It was the most inspirational and motivating experience I have ever had and it has left me counting the days, hours and minutes until next years conference. 

On the technical side of things, this conference has changed the way I will do business from here on out.  Really, it will be nothing short of amazing!  There are going to be some fantastic changes around here, but one thing will stay the same...ME!  I can't wait to starting sharing all these things with you...I promise you are going to LOVE them ;)

But before that, at the tail end of PartnerCon, I got to attend a shooting workshop with the amazing Chelsea Nicole.  Chelsea shoots out of Las Vegas and was so kind to participate and share her shooting wisdom!  The shoot was a "Trash the Dress" shoot, so nothing was off limits!  A HUGE thank you to Tiffany and Patrick, the real life couple who modeled for us!  Aren't they adorable?!

I am so thankful! {A full year of photography}

I wasn't sure when I was going to do this post, but Thanksgiving seemed like the best time.  I just finished up a full day of client meetings and each and every one of them made me love my job a just a little bit more.  It really is just so much fun to sit with a bride and listen to her talk about the planning, the details, the dress and of course the engagement!  Now I don't really have any specific date for when I decided to start my business, but it was right about now.  There were many nights of asking myself if I was really going to do it and then a lot of mornings when I rolled over and asked Matt the same question.  But at some point we both said "Hell-ya!" and so was born, Aubrey B. Greene Photography.  I started with the simple and focused direction that I was going to be a pet photographer because there wasn't much I enjoyed more than spending time with my little pooch so why not do it ALL the time.  But as this year progressed and I was asked to shoot a few weddings, I fell in love.  I fell in love with the brides, the grooms and the smile on my face as I captured them falling in love all over again.  I am getting tingles just writing about it!  So, a few days ago I sat in front of a delicious Thanksgiving feast and reflected on all the things that have happened in the past year and all the people that have helped me to get where I am today.  I am so thankful to my husband for his love, encouragement and gentle pushes that kept me going every day.  I am so thankful to my family & friends for being my first "fans" on Facebook ;)  I am so thankful to my pups, Stella & Rupert, for keeping my feet warm while I'm editing.  And I am of course thankful to all my clients who took the risk of being my first.  You all ROCK and I can't thank you enough!  The upcoming year is full weddings that I am just tickled pink to be shooting.  I am also currently going through a branding face-lift and can't wait to reveal all the changes over the next few months.  I promise it will be nothing short of amazing!

And in honor of all the risk-takers, I stepped out of my "baking box" and made my very first pumpkin pie!  The recipe came out of my family cookbook, rightly named, The Serulla Family Cookbook.  My mother kept an extra copy of it hidden since before I was born and gave it to me at my bridal shower a few years ago.  It was complete with stars, X's and secret ingredients.  Let me tell you...I have never liked pumpkin pie, but this one was pretty awesome ;)  I also made my famous pumpkin bread and it was better than ever!

Jade & Tim: Married!! {Narragansett : Rhode Island}

Happy Thanksgiving!  I'm saying it now because it just a few hours away and I have yet to download my pie pictures...so...my Thanksgiving post may be belated...oops!

And here is something else a bit belated...Jade & Tim!!  They got married back in September and September just happened to be my busiest September EVER!  Thank heavens for Caitlin Maloney, the lead photographer, who posted her pictures in a timely fashion :)  You saw Jade & Tim's SNEAK PEEK here and it was so full of juicy sunlight.  Well, the rest of the day was exactly the same!  Just gorgeous!!  If you know anyone who is getting married in Narragansett...CALL ME!  I am about ready to sell the house and move there because I loved it so much.  There is also this fantastic breakfast place called Crazy Burger and I highly recommend 2 eggs with a cinnamon roll and home fries...breakfast of champion photographers! 

A quick shout out to Sara Faella who did Jade's make-up...she did an amazing job!  Sara travels ladies, so give her a call :)
So I'm pretty sure Jade & Tim just walked out of a magazine...or they practiced the night before.  Hot, Hot, Hot!  Congratulations you guys, it was a beautiful day!
